Lee is made in New Mexico. He graduated from Valley High School, in Albuquerque, in 1971 and Eastern New Mexico University, in Portales, in 1976. After graduation from Eastern he joined Spartan Technology where he spent six years in Accounting, Program Management and Contracts Administration. In 1982, he went to work for Sperry Flight Systems (now Honeywell). During his almost 20 years at Honeywell he gained experience in Finance, Manufacturing, Program Management, Customer Advocacy, and Quality Management. In 1995, Lee was instrumental in Honeywell earning the first Zia award ever awarded in the state of New Mexico.

In May 2001, he became the Director of Performance Excellence for Don Chalmers Ford, in Rio Rancho. In this position, he is focused on continued customer loyalty and instituting a high performing quality management system based upon the Malcolm Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence.

In 2005, the dealership achieved the highest level of quality recognition in the state of New Mexico, the Zia. With this accomplishment, Don Chalmers Ford became the first and only domestic automobile dealership in the nation to obtain their state's highest level of quality. In 2007, Don Chalmers Ford became the first domestic automobile dealership to apply for the prestigious Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. In 2008, the dealership was one of only two small businesses to receive a Baldrige site visit.

His passion lies with total employee and customer loyalty obtained through process management and continual improvement. He is an advocate of the Malcolm Baldrige Criteria to obtain this satisfaction. He has served as a Honeywell Corporate and Quality New Mexico Senior Examiner to assess applicants in this process. Lee is a national Malcolm Baldrige examiner. In Lee's words, "Continuous improvement is not an option; it's a requirement to survive."

Lee is President of the Rio Rancho Sunrise Rotary Club. He served on the Panel of Judges for Quality New Mexico and is active in working with the Rio Rancho Chamber of Commerce to implement their Quality University. Lee is a past member of the boards of New Mexico First and the Governor’s Business Executives for Excellence (GBEEs).

Lee’s interests include spending time with his wife Christine, his children (Brooks and Sarah), his Granddaughter Ella, his savior Jesus Christ, watching hockey (Go Red Wings), and sleeping (this continuous improvement is hard work).
